Fiber Art

Here are some of the things I've been needle felting this past year. I've got this whole batch for sale in my etsy.com store, ArtNest.

The is the detail of a small fiber art piece that is included in the set. It's crocheted, beaded and then has a felt oval placed in the middle.

Summer Solstice

I always feel a bit of sadness on the Summer Solstice. It's the longest day of the year and the next day marks the slow march back to darkness and winter. My experience is that I thrive in sunshine and feel positive, happy and want to be active. The dark is more introspective and leads me towards, soup, hot chocolate and knitting. This winter my intention is to live in a sunny place for one to four of the winter months. There, I said it. Ideas?

The Ice Queens at the 2009 Fremont Solstice Parade

The solstice parade was yesterday. It's a blast to watch but even more fun to participate in. I think everyone should be in this parade once before they die. It's a group of the craziest, wackiest, happiest people in Seattle. They are happy because they are making funny costumes and parading in the streets like grown up kids. As my friend from New York described it "It's like a gay pride parade for straight people". (There are gay, straight, bi, poly-amorous and transgendered people in the parade too.) Here are some pictures from the madness. Thanks to the sun for showing up!

Solstice parade dress

More ice queens at rehearsal above.

I'm having the best time making my paper dress to wear in the Fremont Solstice Parade. I'm in the Ice Queen ensemble and I'm playing the part of the Seamstress. This is the dress in the early stages...I'll show more pictures later.

Telephone Wire Doll

My friend Howie who has a telecommunications company sent me a huge amount of telephone wire after I told him I wanted to use it to make dolls. Here is the first one. Thanks Howie!

From the archives

I was going through some old files and decided to post some older work for you to see. I used to do a lot more illustration and I miss it. I'm going to start drawing and painting more...I have the time now.
